First Week Of Outreach!!

We are in Hong Kong!!! The flight was good and the 12 hours passed by pretty quickly considering it was 12 hours! The base is situated in the oldest Chinese village in Hong Kong, its almost 900 years old. Our first night we were taken out to a Chinese restaurant where Ashley and Jenean ate chicken heads!! No I'm not joking, here they are after they have eaten them!

Then the team split with Richard, Miriam, Jake, Ben, Lee, Pip, Jenean and Jayce going off to Thailand for about 10 days. We all miss them loads here, they have gone to work in a refugee camp for that time, you will hear more about that on the next blog update from Lee! As for us here on the HK base, we had to days off and we used one of those days to explore central HK. This is us up the Bank Of China Building in Hong Kong center.

We had a fun time exploring Hong Kong with some of us checking out the markets, some taking peak trams up and seeing the whole of Hong Kong from a mountain and some taking the ferry at night and seeing the whole place lit up from the water. After our days off we got stuck into outreach as it officially started. The first day we went to a school, Jeremy, Ashley, Jess and Lucy spent time with the children, playing games and helping them with thier school work. Nath and Grace and Nay, Ben and I (Carolyn) went out prayer walking around the town. The next day we went off to an English corner and we had a fantastic time with the kids. They were a range of ages from about 8 to 15 maybe, they were amazing! And then yesterday we went to a ministry in Hong Kong who work with asylm seekers and drug addicts, basically they offer a free lunch and they put on worship, preaching etc. Well we did the worship with Ben, Grace and Hye Won doing a fantastic job, then Nath and I did testimonies and with most of the guys there being African we did a song called Bambalela which is alot of fun! So after having a really good lunch we went off in groups to do 'friendship evangelism' which basically meant we tried to talk to people on the street about Jesus. There were alot of cool stories that came back and the amazing thing was the amount of people who didn't know who Jesus was, that had never been told the meaning of Christmas.

Now we are on a day off!!!! But next week has lots of exciting stuff in store with the guys from Thailand coming back on Friday :-D and us starting the official Christmas outreach program at the Hong Kong base. That means we will be learning new dances and dramas to perform on the streets of Hong Kong, in supermarkets and school, so we are all excited about getting started on that!

More next week......... Carolyn
